Happy Medium

I take my next piece of advice from the Lion King...Be Prepared.

After mulling over my post from yesterday and thinking about my conversation with my husband, I have decided I can do this - I just need more preparation.

To date, I have never planned a meal other than dinner for the family.  Based on my new eating habits, I should be planning breakfast, lunch and dinner.  I should also have plenty of the foods I can grab out of the fridge and eat without cooking on hand - all of the time.  I must re-do the family budget so that I can make purchasing fresh fruits and veggies all the time a possibility.  Finally, I must allow myself to indulge upon occasion and not feel bad about it.  I don't think anyone can do 100% ALL the time without wanting to stab themselves with a fork or possibly start picturing their loved ones as giant ice cream cones.

All and all, I need to stop being such a baby about this whole thing.  Life is what it is and I need to get with it and move on.  There is a happy medium between me eating this crazy diet and me being happy about it.  I just need to find it.

Thanks for the support yesterday :)

I have read a lot of people say that they do the 80%/20% with their diets. They watch what they eat 80% of the time and don't worry about it the other 20%. That makes a lot of sense to me, though I'm not quite there.
My shape is so different now, as compared to even three years ago, that it's just staggering!
It's tough stuff, changing habits!
Good luck! I hope you find a way of eating that words for you! :)

You're totally on about needing to plan in advance, it took me a really long time to figure that out... even longer to realize I had to plan out snacks, too.
Can you have fresh cherries as part of your diet? They're an awesome dessert or easy snack to grab. Also I've found if I get the big carrots and chop them up when I get home from the store they are way better than those little ones, but of course, I won't eat them if they aren't already cut up. I get all of our recipes from the www.eatingwell.com website, they're good and pretty easy to make.
And I think you're doing awesome, good luck with all of this.

I like what Lula Lola had to say. We went on a pretty radical diet here a few years ago for cholesterol issues. It was effective, but after a time, I realized there was no food in our food. We still eat pretty healthy, but are not so militant about every little thing we eat, and we enjoy eating once again.

Good luck finding your happy medium!
